I also felt that comment from Gifty was distasteful, because we expected her to be stronger than the critics. By suggesting that she has been lifted above those insults is like giving in to those fools, and yet when this is pointed out to her, i.e. that those insults should have meant nothing, or that with or without a husband, she was a great woman, the idiots are insulting her.

I support Akos' assertion above. Gifty is one of the greatest women of substance in Ghana; and her status as a model has nothing to do with whether or not she is married. Those of us who love her will always love her even if she were never married.

It is understandable that she cherishes her present marriage. But she did not get married to prove any point to her enemies. Those enemies will not become her loved ones and stop insulting her just because she is now married.

In this sense, there was no need to acknowledge their existence. Gifty makes herself vulnerable to the stupid notion that only marriage or childbirth makes a woman whole.
