  Am wondering, is the European-type educational system in Africa, creating Black women entrepreneurs that are feminizing African cultural clothing designed for men by making such uni-sexual? In other words, is yet another aspect of African Culture and Tradition now under attack?
  
  Also, is the bleaching creme business now soaring in Africa within the "educated African woman" ranks?

  If we are serious about promoting batakare we got it wrong - Batakari is a style and there is a limit to how far a style can be promoted. We can achieve the Sam objective but even more extensively sustainable by focusing on the Batakari fabric and encouraging designers and tailors to come up with a wide variety of functional designs. Then the natural cotton textiles base will be affected by the demand for more fabrics to sew not just batakare but many other designs. INote that with the Friday wear the emphasis was not the tradition kaba and cloth for men to wrap around. It was on using wax print in a range of casual and formal but contemporary designs, That is how come every one continues to target the fabric for new creative design. The fabric will do the magic.
  
  In addition please note that the narrow loom puts a limitation on the range of designs and how these stops of fabric can be integrated into factory type production. In Burkina they have introduced broadloom weaving. Which enables the fabric maker to get a wide stretch of consistently patterned fabric which can be used to ptoduce clothing and home finishing a. The broader the range of products, the more money that will go to planters, spinners, dyers, weavers of cotton fabric. The Batakari tailors will also be better of with a more expanded market overall.
