Hei in Gh everyone is an expert thanks to lazy and sub standard journalism practised in the country.
Upon what basis was David Dontoh rating past govts? Theatre is a specialised commodity as well as practice. But a few questions need to be asked David:

1. What happened to his Kozi Kozi group as well as other amateur theatre groups?
2. Apart from Roverman and Latif which other theatre group has put up a show in 2015?
3. What happened to the Prez Attah Mills allocation to the creative arts?

By the way Hon Dzifa Gomashie is a deputy minister working under somebody and there is a limit to what she can do officially. She managed to organise a theatre festival in 2014 and 2015 at the national theatre.

Finally we should be asking what school of Performing Arts at Legon and Theatre departments at UCC and UEW are doing to promote theatre in Ghana. Additionally what is the situation with hiring the national theatre for shows. Can theatre practitioners afford it?

It has become the order of the day for anyone to just say anything and the media gives it a headline status.

I am very disappointed with David Dontoh for this comment and the supposedly ratings of the past and present presidents. Can David come again with details as to what the past presidents did to promote theatre in Ghana and what should have been done by the present govt that is not being done?
I remember the late Prez Attah Mills allocated some funds for the development of the arts but learnt it was hijacked by Obuor's MUSIGA and used.

If you asked me I will lay the blame of the current situation of theatre in Ghana on the operational policies of the National Theatre which from its establishment has been run as a commercial entity and not as a cultural facility. I mean, the National Theatre should be funded to support and promote theatre in Ghana. In other words, I should be encoraged and supported to mount a theatrical production at the Theatre and not the other way round where I must find funds to hire the facility and in addition bring in equipment and crew from outside for a performance. It makes theatrical production a headache unless you have been able to develop some corporate relationship with some firms for sponsorship as Roverman has been doing. But that is not easy to do. And this situation did not develop under Mahama!

I though Dzifa is a deputy minister so why is David not making reference to the substantive minister instead? Let's be a little honest in our utterances and not just attack personalities because we have some bones to pick which has no bearing on issues. I rest my case.
