Southerners think and act like or wanna be Brits, Ashantis believe in the power and wisdom of their local Twi, since it has developed many philosophers, scientists and Advanced Twi ideologies. But the least chance they get under the cover of dark, all they wanna do is "Hiplife" like ghetto rappers, dress like Versace, Armani Suits and Pimp Suits. Ride in Rolls, Bentley's and Pimped Rides. The Great King could have used his wisdom abd that of his great Ashanti Engineers and Architects to design and modify his Palanquin, into a formidable Shoulder bearing Machine. Even if he tried to immitate the Queens Chariot, they could be some dignity and class in it, than really this Rolls. Sometimes you might wonder if he is the King or the chauffeur, and his chauffeur, the car wash attendant. Kings and queens all over the globe are supposed to be highly attractive and beautiful people by nature...almost a fantasy. Ours just look like retired rural farmers with gold spray cans in hand. But not at this time when folks are crying so loudly about worsening economic situation, especially when Workers do not even receive their salaries for months.

It is the sensitivity involved that pinches harder. I do not even think our Celebrities who largely earn what they've gotten to show off should rampantly flap their gorgeous furthers in our faces when our batakaris and twokotos and cloths are ripping off our bodies, and our pairs of pants and shorts and Chemises are gutted with holes that don't shut with any patching, and we could hardly pay our ever-increasing electric and water bills. Where is even the Energy to power up our lights and appliances? We cannot even have enough power to refrigerate our food to extend its life a little to last us till the next pay-check. Folks are even laid off from work because the Businesses do not have enough Power to run and provide jobs for the Workers. Our Hospitals are empty with no beds and medicines. The Pharmacies get looted by the kleptocrats and even burn the stores to hide their crime, and the sick and wounded die prematurely and needlessly. Our Oil leaves the shores for the Markets abroad but hardly do we see deserving revenues return to our shores. Yeah, they would blame it all on the lowering of prices of Oil on the World Market.

Ghallywood is struggling to compete with Kumawood alhough Ghallywood actors pride themselves as educated while Kumawood actors are mere uneducated folks with sense. For example, an educated and primitive Ashanti would borrow just Gh 50 from a friend, take a bus to Accra. This guy will sleep at the bus station and the next morning buy just one black and brown polish to start shoe shine. After 3months he will save enough to buy a hair machine and graduate to a barber. After a year and over, he then starts fried rice business in an unrented location. He could be saving $50 a day and undeniable after 4 years could save up to $10,000 to pay connection to abroad. From Gh50 to $10000 in 4years. What do you call this? Primitive? Ignorant?. Now compare this to so called educated folks from other tribes who would occupy all government vacancies in all the ministries with their degree and masters certificates but would not be able to save $1000 for 4 years. Who is wiser then? Lets live together as Ghanaians becos competition among tribes is a non-starter becos the very best among some ethnic groups cannot even compete with the least in other ethnic groups. Its divine as ordained by God dont break your back over this.

When our leaders and so-called Celebrities showcase such opulence while the masses are weeping blood for hardship, it makes mockery of the daunting task the common Ghanaians must endure to stay above water.

The International community also often looks at us and wonder why we are crying poverty if anyone among us could so lavishly live on the toils of others.

I made similar comments on the infantile toy-fondling purchase of a private Jet by the President's brother, Ibrahim, when the very bank that he had borrowed from, and still massively owed, was going bankrupt. We all remember how many indicated Ibrahim wanted to be the first Ghanaian to own a private Jet so badly he didn't seem to care about the wailing of the people to his elder brother at the Presidency about their deepening depravity.

Well, to the hard-core Capitalist, that should not matter. Ibrahim then could choose anytime to enjoy his wealth, and prestige for which I heard he even acquired a custom License tag for his luxuy car saying 'Pepeni 1'.

Well, I agree in principle that every single individual reserves the right to enjoy his or her wealth anytime, anywhere. But unless the purpose of such blatant display of excessive wealth is specifically intended to encourage, or inspire the poor to do more for themselves to make similar wealth, the poor would often loathe the showman in times like this.

Thus, practically, it tends to be unfeeling to show off one's wealth to a poverty-ridden crowd, and at a time that they feel the most pain. It is like brandishing a bar of chocolate in front of a dry-lipped famished kid. Sensitivity, or lack thereof, has long-range ripples in Society.

Look at how she is dragging her foot on the introduction of the Supreme Court, every concern ghanaian should rather be critical of her, the EC. Boss.
Let me also say that the president Mahama, has said worse things than this, maybe we have forgotten, this guy stood at Kumasi and isulted all Ashantis by saying that (Se mede gold ye mo kwan mamopoa enye mofe) we didn't hear a word from any these people who are so critical of Ken. To us as Ashantis, that was disrespectful and insult!
