Not too long ago, it was men who were always considered to be ill-behaved if or when they spilled the beans amongst themselves about having slept with particular women. It was taboo to do so and only the most vulgar of men were seen as having this bad tendency as this kind of behaviour was considered to destroy the image and the future marital chances of women who were their victims.

Not too long ago, Ghanaian society - including even our horny and unmanageable men, greatly respected, in spite of their own weaknesses, women who conducted themselves in a chaste, reputable and the generally accepted norms of decent manner.

Today, the tables have turned in an age where another deviant sexual behaviour, homosexuality, has openly reared its ugly head. Today, some of our obviously badly-brought-up women are publicly flaunting their sexuality and private sexual relations and acts to all who may care to know.

We seem to have taken after the decadent trends of western society which erroneously popularize such depraved women in the name of media freedoms, media sales and showbiz. Women in western society are today daring each other to see who can expose more and more of their bodies by degenerate fashion trends than others have done before and since we have also made ourselves subject to the whims of others, we continue, like the mindless fools that we are, to follow these accursed foreign trends.

There are three particularly notorious women who continue to champion this kind of dirty and indecent behaviour in Ghana. They are one Delay, Afia Schwarzenegger and this Mzbel. Collectively, these women have managed to reduce the image of all Ghanaian women to the level of tarts and sluts and because our gullible and undisciplined media also highly promotes their foolishness in order to gain financial advantage, women like this have by default become the role models for other vulnerable younger women in our society. Thus this ugly trend will continue to freely deteriorate.

In regard to this Mzbel in particular, I have found it difficult to figure out why a person like the founder of the UT Bank who is widely respected as a successful businessman would condescend to this level of sleeping with a person who to all intents and purposes, has no respect for her womanhood and is considered by some to be demented. If he has found it difficult to restrain himself sexually, why didn’t he casually drive over to the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and pick up one of those Mzbel-like wayward girls who because of their anonymity could not have caused so much damage to his otherwise well-earned status in society? Was he momentarily dazzled by Mzbels cheap pop reputation into succumbing to her physical charms?

Whatever the case, it is sad when one hears news like this which seem to indicate that the life-long efforts by some of us in maintaining a fairly decent personal moral standard and composure is only a farce which amounts to a waste of everybody’s time.
