To start with, no curfew lasted 2 years from June 4th of 1979. Rawlings stayed in power for just some few months till Dr. Hila Liman took office in January 1980 and stayed on till 31st December 1983 when JJ took over again. Between 1979-1983, there were more dance bands that sprung up like Osaberima, Classic Handles, Classic Vibes, Hippies, Dutch Benglos, Pink Fives, Osagyefo, Sunsum to mention but a few. These bands were so good that the very old bands couldn't cope with their performance. The type of music at that time seemed too hot for the older guys to handle. Then disco's and spinners rose to an unbelievable heights due to people's quest to dance to very good and distinct sounds of music. The bands who couldn't stand the competition faded out. Who in those times will dance to "serwa akoto" when "akoo te brofo" is on air? As much as I don't buy the coups Rawlings staged, doesn't mean I should blame the fall out of everything in those times to those coups. Go ask Afro Moses, Kwadjo Antwi, Lee Duodoo, George Darko, Charles Amoah, Nana Tuffuor, to mention but a few and they'll tell you their best moments in music begun in those years. If you can't carry your load, don't blame it on anybody.

We were all there, and spinners had the last laugh. Come to think of it, they played dusk to dawn and no one arrested them. That was the time America funk and disco was en vogue everywhere, especially in Ghana.

You are right mr ambolley, However, it is because of that coup that we now have better bands, groups and performers. That coup also enabled the creation of the private radio stations on which you weere interviewed. Don't forget about the fact that until that coup we were drinking COCA COLA only on Christmas days and new white goods such as cookers, fridges were used by soldiers who travelled on peace keeping missions and the privileged Ghanaians who had the chance to travel out of the the country. It is true that there were some excesses but on a whole it made us better. long live JJ Rawlings

You are but a Monster. Which coup improuved what and how? You write stupid thing out of laziness. Ambolley is right about the many bands that lost their activities due to curfews and no night life. The result is all these musicians of today who have no skill in better performances and only to copy from americanisation , even on kpanlogo. We have lost also in sports especially footballers and those good altheletics who left the country.

You are out out of the subject, Mandigo. And anyway who is JJ to behold the freedom ans liberty of others for his selfish protection. Even the great Dr. Nkrumah never hold his beloved people in curfews for fear of enemies and foes. So remember, l not the type like you who worship lunatic murderers out of fear to make them tin-gods . JJ is a sadic muderer who will leave our history as as a madman for his dirty family to pay for his crimes in one way or the other ! You are a bootlicking goat . You can never be an Akan. Gei off !
