Kwame, it is true that divorce could be very costly, financially. But it is often better to leave and face those intimidating financial impacts than stay in an unhealthy, or a dangerous marriage.

Many of us would use the financial burden emerging out of divorce as an excuse to stay in a most life-depleting marriage. In Ghana, especially, we often hear spouses using the fate of their children in deciding against divorce and enduring a very unhappy marriage, devoid of Peace.

In fact, most experienced elders and experts in Social Studies would tell you that it could be more dangerous for the kids to keep a rotten marriage going. The children may be financially taken care of. But their development would be full of unanswered questions that deny them proper maturity, and even their success for which the marriage was kept as it was.

No! It is not always the case that one has to split properties in half to see off a divorced partner. It all depends on how the marriage was established, and who might have shown a blatant breach of the marital contract.

Ordinarily, poor folks and foreigners are perceived to be less resourceful to children of divorced parents and Judges often consider who would be better at supporting the children.

If the Dr. truly has ample evidence of the Woman's infidelity and would spend a little to hire a good Lawyer, he could be the 'winner' in any anticipated divorce, unless of course, the Wife could submit evidence to counter what the Dr. claims, or prove that her actions are the result of abuse by the Dr.

It is a common occurrence in the USA that Judges rule for American Citizens in divorce cases involving mixed couple where one partner is a foreigner.

The common observations suggest that the Judges often believe the children would be better off with the American parent who might be expected to live in the USA where prospects of success for the kids are believed to be higher than most places outside. The American parents in such circumstances often argue for keeping the children so that the children are not taken out of the USA--something most of the Judges don't like to see happen.

Nevertheless, in cases where the American parent has shown without a doubt to be grossly irresponsible, as in using drugs, indulging in flagrant and persistent adultery, most Judges would be morally compelled to let the other partner, even if a foreigner, keep the children.

In spite of all the above, people are always advised by experts to do what is ultimately best for their lives in marriages where divorce is being considered. The financial impact alone must not determine the fate of anyone's future in a relationship.

You cannot have a peaceful marriage if you are always taunted, abused and unloved by your partner. So, using a resultant financial entanglement as an excuse would not make your life any better, neither would it be any better for your hateful partner or the children involved.

Yes, the financial burdens emerging form a divorce must be expected and boldly dealt with as a risk worth-taking sometimes.

I am a mother of five boys and she owns the daycare I worked for. She is a hardworking woman. She loves her kids very much. They are twin, a boy and a girl. When I first met her, I was told her husband was in a car accident and almost died. This resulted in him not able to walk with both legs as he used a walking aid. She has been there for him and even his daughter from another woman and their both kids. She is so involved in all their activities. She has them both in Christian schools from kindergarten they are 11 years old now. They do music, soccer, dance. This lady is just a sweet soul. She cares for the elderly and homeless people. She has been a college teacher for almost 15 years. I am honestly aware that she has branched into the movie career, she produces and writes. I know her very well and would not read all this comment and not let the writers know about her. Please find out if her husband wrote this. Pure lies. Thanks you.
