Looking at resources that the country pours into interschool sports I would say that Ghana's olympic team contingent was rather small. If this continues we would discontinue inter-schools sports (interco and superzo).

For example El Wak and Accra Sports Stadia have been made available for greater Accra interschool sports. They have undergone renovation over and over again. How can you send such a small team.

Kente represent the entire Ghana as a whole but not only a single particular region alone.
On the international grounds Kente is recognized as the major Ghanaian national costume among others too such as 'fulgu' = the smock ...

On the international grounds Kente is recognized as the major Ghanaian national costume among others too such as 'fulgu' = the smock which is even worn more than Kente around in the country & beyond.
Take a close look at most high level conferences where delegates from Ghana are in Smock instead a colonial 3piece western suits.
Even in our parlement the Smock is more worn as the mode trend than the Kente.
However I personally believe that the both -Smock & Kente - would be blended as a national costume in the near future international occasions such as Olympics et al.
Your wake up call is brewing in it's place.

The costume that was trending was the bare chested Fiji flag bearer.

Ghanaians like to boast of themselves too much. If we were really all that and doing something, I would go with it. As at now, no Ghanaian will win a medal in these games. We are just there for the sake of participation.

and it's only four days into the games.

Come on Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ghana Olympic Committee and the National Sports Council. We can do better than going to parade our bright shining colourful kente at these games.

In the end, it's not about who paraded the best national costume, but about the best team and who won most medals.

I believe in Ghana and so do I believe in the potential of every Ghanaian. For sure we can shine better than this.

The commentators mentioned that the team was not sure of their participation until the eleventh hour.
This gives us nothing to be proud of. Smaller nations with meagre resources could sponsor more athletes without any big deal.
Ghana Olympic Committee must wake up and live up to expectation, then such events like Olympic Games, Football World Cup, etc are the best publicity for the nation.
