i don't undersstand this. can someone make it clear for me. if am a cooporate organization do i need to contact an artiste before i can use his/her song?

Nonsense! No need to contact the songwriter. Copyright law allows for a "compulsory mechanical license". Under the law, anybody can obtain compulsory mechanical license without express permission from the copyright holder.
