  It is fitting that Mr Mends is remembered in this way.
  
  He made his mark as an actor, dramatist, teacher and by his sheer humanity.
  
  We will always remember his friendliness, warmth, sharp wit and great sense of humour. Mr Mends was really funny, would crack a joke and and burst into laughter with his trademark deep,raucous,metallic laugh.
  
  May he rest in perfect peace.
