From Nkrumah's time this nation reckers have constantly projected themselves as the superior Ghanaians yet fail miserably when it matters. To standup and be counted in school they run home with 3rd class and a lost law certificate. They turned round and "sakawaed" Ghanaians to believing they were the most competent and honest yet when the day of reckoning came, they could not write a common inaugural speech. What did they do they disgraced Ghana infront of the whole world with a plagiarised speech. Watch the videos then you hear our beloved president repeating after the two USA presidents they plagiarised as if they were commanding to repeat after them. Where is the honesty such that you could not acknowledge your sources.Where is the competence that you could not write an original and contextualised speech to be called Ghanaian. Where is the integrity for our wise men and women of the most competent elephant family to steal a speech on day 1 of their yet to be "competent" government?. Well you were so blinded by your quest for power such that you never addressed Mahama as president but "incompetent Maama"? There you are incompetent, dishonest, speech stealing Akufo Addo on your first day in office. What goes round surely comes around.

People should as a matter of education refer to the Copyright Act 2005, ACT 690 Section 12 (1) "The rights of the author referred to in section 5 are protected during the life of the author and seventy years after the death of the author unless the contrary
is stated in this Act." The man died some 93 years ago.

What is wrong is that critics are so dazed by Ghana's rebirth to the extent that they dont even exercise an iota of intellect to interpret the speech in its entirety but the borrowed lines that lent the sort of finese to the speech itself. The writer did not write a book to profit from. He simply wrote a speech and there is nothing wrong with quoting any "goddam" lines from somewhere. Give us a break, brainless idiots!!

1. Does that particular sentence invalidate the entire speech?

2. If yes, then we can condemn the entire speech totally. However, if it doesn't, then it should not be condemned to this level. As it does happen in the academic universities where many commentators are drawing inferences, when a report or a thesis is submitted to the 'turnitin', the software provides the total percentage of plagiarised sentences. And if it exceeds the university's requirement, that paper is rejected. This connotes that one is most likely to commit such mistake since some percentage of plagiarised sentences are allowed.

In my conclusion since the total percentage is just minimal, the speech is highly acceptable. That notwithstanding, the director of communication should be careful next time to avoid unecessary attack. Because not everyone understand the import of plagiarism.

I wonder if the inaugural speech was for academic purposes, like a thesis in which you don't reference an author in which you used his or her work in your thesis, then it's plagiarism. Moreover I don't think any of these speeches from those past president of the US where copyright and that if any other person uses some of their words in their speeches without reference will mean infringement or plagiarism as Ghanaians will call it. "Ghanafo ya br3 mo" you people are too known..meanwhile common toothpick is being imported from China..instead of thinking of how to manufacture equipments and others things by ourselves, rather than criticizing people on how to speak English or write them.
