First, go back to the basics then you we can look to managing change to fit current national, regional and global security and defence threats.
The Ghana Armed Forces until the late 2000s produced some of the finest military officers and soldiers and an institutional culture second to non in West Africa. Same cannot be said today so let's strive to go back to basics first. There are very qualified senior officers in service and barring political favouring can be part of the process to re-trace our glorious past and connect it to current needs. The Matt Essien's, GKT Sam's, Ben Gah's, Richard Mensah's, Danso Ankrah's, William Kwabiah's...to name a few.
And Hon. Minister, do grab copies of books such as The Insurgent (by Gen David Petraeus), My Share of the Task (by Gen Stan McChrystal)and Duty (by Secretary Robert Gates). These are intriguing pieces that can guide the change you desire.
Good luck. Long live Ghana and GAF!
