  Look it does not matter so far as they have co habited for more than 6months and both are known to each family and there has been a traditional marriage done. The lady has a clear case.

  But Kwabena Kwabenas mother has not done well at all. How could you have done this to your son? does it mean she did not like the woman and the union from the very word go?

  Per Article 11 of the 1992 constitution, Customary law is also recognised as a source of the laws of Ghana. Customary marriage is our Wedding here in Ghana. Thus Kwabenas wife having been married customarily, is entiled to the same rights and benefits that accrue a wife married under ordinance. The only difference between marriage under ordinance and customary marriage is that, whereas the doesn't allow for polygamy, the latter does. Kwabenas wife should see a lawyer ASAP and get the house and any property acquired during the existence of the marriage for kids and herself. She is entitled to half of everything. This guy should be thought a lesson.

  Who told this ignorant reporter that marriage certificate is a license to LOVE and guarantee for the marriage to stay. Please ask him for me whether his grand parents signed any marriage certificate? No certificate can force anybody to stay in marriage and whether cert or no cert the woman still has share in the property.
