Kenkey most likely is called Dorkunu by the Akans as a corruption of the words"Dor wu kunu"-to wit, love your husband. It is imaginable that when the Akans came to live among the Ga, it was incomprehensible to the Apem and Kontombire and Fufu and Palmnut Soup loving Akan that the Ga ladies could be serving their husbands Kenkey (probably even bought and not home-cooked), instead of a rich home cooked Apem or Fufu. So, they may have been teasing the Ga women "Erye aa, dor wu kunu". This shortened to "Dorkunu" as time went on and the origin went lost in the sand of time.

Whether this is a typo or not is not acceptable because the subject matter concerns people's way of life. No one eats "shit" in Ghana.
