I once convinced a Muslim friend's father to translate the early morning song I heard everyday from a nearby Mosque.He didn't know the meaning either but promised to look into it for me.One evening he sent someone to call me for him.I was very nervous since I was secretly dating her daughter at that time.When I got there he was with two other quests whom he introduced as the early morning singer and the Imam for that area.The Singer began to sing just like I had heard a hundred times every morning.After each verse he paused for the Imam to translate the meaning to us.I fell in love with the poetry and how God was praised in those verses.When it was over a loud applause broke out from the spontaneous crowd which had been attracted by the singer's wonderful voice.The Imam invited me for a worship at the Mosque the following Friday.I asked if I could come with my family members to which they almost in unison agreed.My mother flatly refused to go near any mosque and it took some sweet talks from my father to convince her not to forbid me from going.He even promised to accompany me to ensure that I was okay which I thought was quite absurd.My older sister who was at that rebellious age also invited herself for the visit if just to annoy my mother.When we got to the Mosque and the Imam was informed that I had come with my father and sister,they couldn't be more generous in their hospitality.He spoke of me as a respectful youth blessed with a very promising intellect and a noble heart fit for a King.I felt 20 feet tall and my smile couldn't be wider.I naturally at this point was debating in my mind which Muslim name to adopt after I switching faiths to join up with these people who recognized my very promising intellect and noble heart.I could sense my father was reading my mind like nobody else could but I didn't care.It was about time he heard opinions of those who appreciated my very promising intellectual prowess instead of relying solely on the failing grades my teachers ruthlessly assigned most of my school work.He was displaying that smile he used only when I tried some unlikely stories or excuses with him.He suddenly turned around and pointedly introduced my older sister who up until that point had remained silent.Our guests refused to shake her hand and quickly switched their attention back to me.I noticed that everytime she attempted to speak or ask a question she was interrupted or politely dismissed.The final straw came when they escorted us into the prayer hall.The unceremonuosly steered away to a much less prominent location designated for women.I love my family more than life itself and it took every fiber in me not to turn around and walk out.My father at this point had replaced that smile with the much hated"I told you so" smirk.The prayer was unique and beautiful enough but their mesogynistic treatment of my sister had changed my whole perspective about the religion or at least how they practiced it in my neck of the woods.After the service I rasied my objections about women's right to the Imam but he was adamant that women didn't deserve the same rights and respect accorded to men and boys.How could I ascribe to such a belief when I have 4 sisters and a mother I adored?Many of my friends are Muslims and I still lay in my bed listening to the singer's poetry of praises to God in the wee hours of the morning but this time with a burnuing question.How can you sing such beautiful praises of God when you have such disdain and disrespect for one of his creations?

I would like to speak to H.E. Akufu-Addo about his dressing, and make a suggestion or two about what his wife has also been wearing.
From the get-go, their selections for the inauguration were a bit too much. They clashed at every turn. With Akufo Addo selecting that custom cloth (which, by the way was two or three colors too many), Mrs. Akufo Addo, should have toned down her selection of cloth. She should have worn some pastel color, maybe with light trims. What she chose to wear also had too many colors clashing everywhere she got close to the president.
There is still time for the president and his wife to get their acts together.
Leave Mrs. Bawumia alone!
