    There is nothing wrong for Churches to pay Royalties. Don't the pastors get paid? So what is wrong paying songwriters? In the US most Churches (sans African Churches) pay royalties e.g. thru CCLI etc. However, the royalties a ...

    Most of the old hymns are public domain and since they are not the writers they cannot get royalties. likewise all public domain songs with unknown writers.
