Controversial comedian and TV presenter, Afia Schwarzenegger, has advised Ghanaians to show love to people when they are alive rather than wait after they are dead to flood social media with messages of love and honour.

Afia Schwarzenegger in a video sighted by GhanaWeb said she was appalled by how people have jumped on social media to mourn the late Bishop Bernard Nyarko, shedding fake tears and eulogies, when they did nothing to help him when he was sick.

She said from her observation, the only time the whole of Ghana comes together to show love to anyone is when the person has passed on.

Using herself as an example, she claimed that since she has not been feeling well, no one has called to check up on her, but she is sure that if she passes on, there will be lots of love shown to her dead body.

“Why do we as Ghanaians love the dead this much? I remember when the man was sick, we heard his colleagues claimed they tried to call him and didn’t get any response, but still they were able to hear it when he died. Show love to people when they are alive because what I have observed is that the only time the whole Ghana comes together to show you love is when you have died,” she stated.

In a sharp turn of events, the brother of the deceased in an interview on Kasapa 102.5 FM, asked colleague actors of his deceased brother not to blame their mother for blocking them from visiting, adding that it was the exact wish of his brother who wanted absolute privacy before his demise.

“He didn’t like the idea of being visited by all sorts of people, and later find his pictures flooded on social media and all that. You could even agree with me that some people want absolute privacy on their sickbed, while others also will want to open their doors for loved ones to visit. But we want to make it clear that the family, especially my mother acted on the command of our deceased brother,” he told host Kweku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM.

Bishop Bernard Nyarko was reported to have passed on Saturday, May 2, 2020. The news of his demise came as a shock to Ghanaians with most taking to social media to mourn him.

He announced his retirement from acting to be a full-time preacher after recovering from a serious illness earlier this year.
