Voting for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency primaries in Eastern Region started at 0700 hours in 27 constituencies in the region.
Voting is taking place in 16 constituencies, while candidates in 11 of the constituencies are going unopposed.
In all, 63 candidates including; 10 women are contesting the primaries.
The constituencies, where the candidates are going unopposed include; Atiwa East, Atiwa West, Abetifi, Akropong, Okere, Abuakwa South, Upper Manya Krobo, Asene Manso, Ofoase-Ayirebi, Fanteakwa North and Abirem constituency.
Reports from Ghana News Agency reporters on the ground indicate heavy security presence and compliance with protocols of the COVID-19.
The report indicates high turnout in the New Juaben South and North constituency.
As at 0900 hours, over 80 per cent of the delegates had voted at many of the polling stations, while at New Juaben North, some of the polling stations had completed the elections as all the delegates had voted.
