Exactly two years ago, broadcaster and former Spokesperson of the Normalization Committee (NC) of the Ghana Football Association, Dan Kweku Yeboah disclosed that he actively campaigned against former President Mahama in the 2016 general elections.
According to him, Mahama neglected the local sports sector when he came into power, and as a result, he had to ensure he did not win the elections to pave way for another leader who will make local sports development a priority.
“I did not only vote against them, I campaigned against them because my point is that, that is my area as a sports journalist. I have a sports paper, if our local football goes well, I sell. Today if you’re an editor of a local newspaper and you don’t have Ronaldo or Messi on your front page, you are dead. Whatever it will take for our local football to develop, I will go for it,” he said.
The Peace FM Sports Editor and owner/editor of the Ghana Sports newspaper made these comments when he took his turn on Sports Check on GhanaWeb in May 2018.
