Well said. Not only "a nation that does not honor its heroes is not worth living for " but also dying for. Abraham Lincoln is also said to have quoted that "Any nation that does not honor its heroes will not long endure". I have never heard of or listened to Enyidado 98.7FM but I think the Enyidado Woho Ma Obiara program would be worth listening to on 98.7Fm. Honoring our living heroes might not just be a novelty idea but it's also a grandeur idea and whoever are its originators deserve a national recognition.
Adding dead heroes to the list of honorees will add impetus to the importance of doing something for one's country and community.Ghanaians are sorely divided on their opinions about Danquah, Busia and Nkrumah but I believe all of these 3 men loved their country dearly, albeit their opposing policies and visions. The differences that later turned old friends into avowed enemies do not make any of them less of a hero than the other. It's time to bury the hatchet of past trivialities and differences and create a national heroes list enacted through Parliament. The modalities for induction into the list can be set by parliament and the list can be updated from time to time. There are also unsung heroes from every region, district, city, town, village, tribe, religion etc who're unrecognized or died unrecognized. Those who died without recognition can be honored posthumously by their districts and regional administrations.
