Have you ever read Rawlings' speeches when he was arrested after the first coup. Was the import of his messages a sign of someone who had inferiority complex?. Rawlings was made a leader because he was the best person to lead at the time and his colleagues were ready to die for him.
Let me educate you a little on history, may be you have not been reading the history of Ewes and Akans I have been posting. NOTE. EWES and AKANS USED TO BE CLOSE FRIENDS UNTIL AKANS STARTED BETRAYING THEM.
Akans, typified as Ashanti Kingdom encountered Ewes in history during the Asante Wars. The Ewe tribe was too strong and smart for them to defeat like they did to other tribes so they ended up being friends leading to exchange of culture and professionals. Komfo Anokye (to wit Komfo Noshie – Noshie is the immediate ancestral home of the Ewes) is a typical example.
Ewes and Akans from that time had accommodated each other and shared settlements. The Akan communities in Volta Region whom the Asantehene visited recently and who still hold allegiance to the Asante Kingdom, and Ewe communities on Akanland whose existence dates back to history are classic examples.
That was the reason why the UP (modern NPP) used to have a strong Ewe support until Akans started seeing and treating Ewes through the lenses of delusions of grandeur which changed the relationship to that between cat and dog.
This hatred between the two tribes is the result of the foolhardy superiority complex mentality of most Akans towards not only Ewes but also other tribes like the northern tribes and even one of their own Fantes.

I don't intend to add much but to explain the origin of the senseless superior feeling of the Akans.
The migrant Ewes who migrated to Akanlands because of the Ewe/Akan friendship were very intelligent. So they were used in all facets of life as Agriculturists;to advice on improved agric. practices and processing, war strategists, and advisors to the King, like Okomfo Anokye. Over time, because the Akans were paying the Ewe migrants for their services, they began to think that they were superior to the Ewes which the Ewes resisted leading to the present hatred.

If people choose blindly to vote for NDC then so be it, the people in the Volta region clearly believe in total isolation of the ethnic tribes of today's Ghana - they tend to run in the opposite direction to what the other tribes decide to run in. No body should therefore be blamed for the Volta region indiscriminantely wanting to cling together in isolation relative to other areas of Ghana. Ghana today belongs to much well-adjusted kinds of ethnic tribes willing to live and work together to achieve a common goal, therefore the Ewes must wake up to that fact and stop voting blindly for NDC which with all respect is less competent in government and administration of this great country.
