Even though they will come here and deny it but you have perfectly diagnosed what is wrong the NPP. It is for them to accept your diagnosis and swallow the bitter pill to get well. BAWUMIA' popularity is what is causing that uneasiness in the party. Remember, Arthur-K in his letter to the leadership reminded us the status of Bawumia.
I wrote somewhere that NPP should shut down for repairs. In that piece I gave them some points they need to re-consider for repairs and this Akyem-Asante divide was number one on that list.
1- They need to find someone who is neither Asante nor Akyem to lead that party. Looking at things, it sound silly but for strategical reason and to wean themselves from the that label- Asante-Akyem party- it is very important to think about this critically. I know they consider themselves democrats and therefore want an election to choose their leader. But no, since they have more delegates from the Akan area, the leader will always come from Asante or Akyem area and that is why common sense dictates that they need to search for a NON-AKAN to lead them.
2-Even though Bawumia has become the Darling Boy, for strategical reason, I don't think they need him to win the election. Firstly, even though he is true Moslem, the Muslims have not shown to be on NPP side and they will not vote massively for him. Secondly, two Regions are very crucial for NPP to win any election in Ghana and that are Greater Accra and Central Regions. A leader should certainly hail from one of those areas, if Bawumia did not get the nod. Again, the tragedy would be choosing an Asante or Akyem over Bawumia; that would not only send the elephant into the thick bush but rather would be drown by River Prah metaphorically. Because as you have eloquently described it, the Akyems will not accept any Asante for the mere fact that they Asantes were the downfall of Akufo. And there is no way another Akyem would be allowed to be head. The plot thickens.
3- As a matter of fact, political parties around the are choosing younger people to lead them, except only NPP that believe that one has to wait for his turn- 60 something yrs- before becoming a leader. Good young men like Dan Botwe, Arthur-K, Bawumia should be given the chance to lead the party. JAK, Akufo, Wereko and older leaders should serve as elders and "coach" the younger ones.
4- Ken Agyapong, Ursula Owusu, Sir John and the gangs who do not know how to respond to attacks except insults should be warned. I know it is not easy with Ken Agyapong who has FM radio stations, but I don't think he is that dumb not to know how his vituperation undermines the success of the party. Currently, you hardly from the Ablakwa, Boamah, Acheampong and their ilk. We have Kwesi Pratt who is working hard to replace them. Again, insults need to be ceased. Even though, JAK did not receive any respect from any NDC member, NPP needs to respect Mahama; they need to go to the FMs with facts and attack his plans and not his personality.
5-It is silly to have over 100,000 delegates and send school boys to be polling agents. Every polling station has to be manned by a delegate. The reason is, these areas are where "vote buying" occurs. If you sent a school boy to a polling station, definitely the government could buy that person with a cheap laptop.
6- Their message should be very clear- it should not be only one like the "free education." When the message is one, it is very easy for the other party to defeat it. When you have messages for how you will deal with the ECONOMY, HEALTH CARE, EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENT, EMPLOYMENT
7- Lastly, they should stop making hero(es) out of criminals and fools. When someone insults the intelligence of the people like what Ken Agyapong did, they should not defend them and should not allow that person to use their headquarters for press conference. They should instantly rebuke that person and withdraw themselves from that situation. And when an idiot does stupid thing like what happening recently with the doctoring of the President's picture, no member should go to the BNI for fight over this stupidity. These are little, little things they take for granted but somehow affects the party. Akufo should have condemned Ken Agyapong outright for his outburst. You don't wait for weeks doing nothing and try to go the chiefs to talk to them as if the chiefs could impose their wills on Ewes during election time.
Every patriotic Ghanaian should think of our democracy with a vibrant opposition and that is why this advice from me. We CAN NOT and SHALL NOT allow one party to rule us forever. From look of things, I don't think NDC will do well if NPP failed to become a vibrant opposition party.

Why am I suggesting this? Because the NPP would have won the 2012 election should they have taken Greater Accra and Central regions but for the irresponsible utterances of only two persons namely Kennedy Agyapong ( Calling on NPP supporters to hit Gas and Ewes) and Appiah Ofori (Calling Cape chief ohene gyen-gyan) not to mention the rhetoric of so many others that cost the party votes at general elections.

This is a very good observations but as usual, the insults from them has already begun even before the last word of this article. Nobody in this country needs to look far to see what is happening in the elephant family-vis a vis the Akyem Factions and that of the Ashanti factions.Though, they have over the years refused that nothing of that sort prevails within the family, it is now very clear to us all.The situation is becoming, "Konongo Kaya" If the Akyem Mafias would not do the right thing by not thinking of 2016, then we will also not give them the peace that they so much needed to do that.
But there is something interesting happening. Not long ago, Sir John made it known to Nana Akomea that, his position as the campaign manager has come to an end and therefore, he has no power to speak for the party.The question is, what about that of Akufo Addo? Is he still the flagbearer? And if indeed, Tarzan is acting to salvage the party from these vultures(Akyem Mafias) are the few Ashantis within their(Akyems) ranks not aware? Or it is a ploy of pretence? Like the writer said, why are the Oseikrom top hierarchy not in court to lend their moral supports apart from the incompetent Apraku?
The NPP is doomed forever.This is just a dress rehersals.Who said Tarzan is acting without knowing what exactly is about? Only the fools like Sir John who doesn´t even knows what is happening at the court would. We wait to see.
