This is a very interesting article for numerous reasons; paramount of which is the glaring omissions or the factors that make people treat our past leaders with scorn. To me the main reason is that the mendacity of our leaders has fostered a mendicant climate in Ghana. People have come to realize that the ineptitude of our leaders has turned most citizens into pathetic peons. It is bald hubris to suggest that our so-called leaders did us a favor. That’s not true; we did them a favor by allowing them to rule. The truth is that they took advantage of us by siphoning as much pelf as they could for their families and lackeys. Our past and present leaders are bonded by a common denominator; CORRUPTION. We can easily describe our governments as kleptocratic regimes. Name ONE regime since Independence that can pass the litmus test in corruption. Their collective motto has always been WE CAME WE SAW WE PLUNDERED. Can’t understand how a Ghanaian feels sorry for our leaders when they are verbally assaulted. The scorn is their cosmic comeuppance for all the suffering they have brought to bear on Ghanaians. Kwame Nkrumah surrounded himself with drooling sycophants like Krobo Edusei, Kofi Baako, Amoako Atta. We all know what such “Poodle” services turned Kwame Nkrumah into. Afrifa and his gang of inebriated looters descended upon us and history is replete with what the Khakitocrats did to us. Remember, Afrifa who was the “Darling boy” of the NLC demolished the entire village of Krobo and made it into a mini TEMA. I don’t think the writer was around when Acheampong and his brigands were offering Golf cars to women based on the size of their boom booms. Rawlings entered the scene with the slogan; WE NO GO SIT DOWN MAKE THEM CHEAT US EVERY DAY. Years later, we see how filthy rich and arrogant the Ahwois, Tsikatas and others who were the stalwarts of his regime have become. The Woyome crap speaks volumes about those in power today. Remember Kuffour’s son became suddenly rich months after his father became the president. With this speck of evidence about our leaders, do you think they should be treated nicely? I DON’T THINK SO.

The Yorubas , the Zabramas, the Indians,the Lebanese most of whom were illegally in this country controlled the local economy . Busia gave those who were illegals to leave on their own and they left paving the way for your father and mother to own a kiosk . Busia started the Accra Sewerage system with the Israelis and this was abandoned after his overthrow .That is why Accra people ease themselves on the beach as at now. His rural development Agenda has never been equaled by any government.His problem was that he did not kowtow to a particular parasitic group who does not bring any thing to the table. These people did not and will never see any thing good this patriotic Ghanaian.

Our Christian doctrine reveals that for as long as we tarry in this tabernacle of clay none among us would be perfect by any stretch of the imagination. Except Jesus Christ, everyone of us, each member of the human race has a fair share of the frailities of our race. Not even Adam,Enoch,Noah,Abraham, and Moses who were each identified with one gospel dispensation nor Abel, Elijah, Esaias,Gad,Jeremy, Elihu, Caleb, Jethro,Melchizedek, Jacob,John the Baptist who administered the priesthood and had a knowledge of the gospel were without faults.
In our time, we've had and will continue to have different calibered political leaders for as long as we remain as a nation. If we will not and cannot expect perfection from ourselves, then we cannot and should not expect same from Danquah, Nkrumah, Busia, Liman, Rawlings, Kufuor, Mills and Mahama because though individually unique, it's the same blood that runs through our veins and theirs, making us all fallibility prone humans.
We all own quirks or idiosyncrasies,those habits, mannerisms or characteristics that drive other people crazy.
The leaders' unique and exceptional leadership qualities notwithstanding, every now and then during and after their tenure, and especially when they pass on we, the people are able to evaluate their performances and determine their successes and failures. If we do this open and broad mindedly, dispassionately without the nuances, biases, and mindless political partisanship that pitches the dichotomy of ideologies against policies, the nation builds on the successes of inspirational and visionary leadership. This way we avoid repeating the costly mistakes already committed by others.
If this becomes our approach to national development then each practice takes us a step towards perfection. Since 1957 national development has moved at a snail's pace or at worst stalled because we've woefully failed to identify what holds us together as a nation, what keeps our engine running on all cylinders and at full throttle, wasting precious time on things that don't matter like finding faults that don't exist.Let's criticize constructively, pointing out genuine mistakes but avoid the reckless and senseless attacks on political opponents. Finding faults where they don't exist is what is particularly insidious about the knee jerk attacks on our opponents.If we can boil with justifiable rage at the devastation caused by 'okwaduo'(the monkey) on the farm plantation but still admire its 'Usain Boltish' speed why can't we do same for our political opponents? Sure we can do better if we try harder.The fight is the same. The adversary is the same. We cannot entirely avoid mistakes because we are human but let's accept constructive criticism, avoid the mistakes and improve on what we do best.
