  Any Ghanaian who commits a crime in another nation is dealt with according to laws of that land.
  
  If we find out official involvement, people will punish the gov't just like your fools uncle or whatever suffered in 2008.

  Since at this stage even the immigration officers and the British police can not force her to divulge any information,lets leave the courts and the investigaters to do their job.Even the courts can not force her to give evidenceif she is not prepared to do so.The court can only interprete her slence negatively.
  
  So it is up to the records in Ghana and Austria which will determine her actual nationality.Looks don't do that.These days many people look Ghanaian but have British or American citizenship.

  Prof, it's very interesting you claim you can determine one's nationality or country of origin by his/her appearance/looks. You are absolutely wrong. I am a typical example. For some reasons I cannot explain most Ghanaians think I am not Ghanaian and often take me to be of South African or Caribbean origin. I am often approached by South Africans and Kenyans believing that I am one of them. I have visited Ghanaian homes in London with friends and they welcomed me in English after welcoming the others in Akan assuming I am not Ghanaian. Back home in Ghana, people also assumed I was Ewe. I had Ewe women speak their language to me assuming I was one of them and were shocked when I told them I do not speak the language. In other words, looks can be very deceptive.

Of course, there will always be gray margins here and there, when it comes to phenotypes, but a person's cultural location is often unmistakable, if you are observant and studious enough.
  
  I would be very surprised, if you actually thought Ms. Nayele Ametefe was either an ethnic German/Austrian and not a "stereotypical" Ghanaian.
  
  Of course, all humans mate across cultural and ethnic and racial lines.
  
  You see, Kofi, unlike most of you parochial Akans, I am culturally mixed with almost every discrete ethnic group in Ghana, my old man alerted to this fact while I was scarcely a teen; I just happen to define myself in terms of the culture into which I was born and raised.
  
  My maternal grandparents, who raised me, traveled all over the land. Many of the Presbyterian schools in the Asante, Central, Eastern, Brong-Ahafo and Western regions were opened by the Rev. T. H. Sintim. And that was long before the political advent and domination of President Nkrumah in Ghana. Therefore, in the context of the recognition of our common humanity, for the most part, I really blessed.

  In the US there African Americans who have adopted Ghanaian and other African names (both first and surnames). So name alone cannot be definite of one's origin or country of birth. I also worked in Race Relations here in the UK and came to the conclusion that physical appearance and names could be deceptive in determining one's origin. There lots of Scottish and English names in Central Region, Dutch names in Greater Accra, etc.
  
  The world is now a global village and there are names from everywhere anywhere and vice versa but if you are good at recognizing where one comes from by looking at his or her appearance, then, that is fine.

  I couldn't believe the prof expected the High Commissioner to ascertain the woman's nationality from her looks in a picture. What a shame! Furthermore, I do not think the prof, in his haste and anxiety to pin some wrong-doing tag on the incumbent Ghanaian government, took any pains to find out when the Ghanaian passport was issued, whether it was originally issued in the woman's name or is just one of those things nick-named "ntu shem". The Prof should also take note of the possibility of a foreigner with a fake Ghanaian passport starting a trip from the KIA. These could as well be the sort of things the High Commissioner was looking out for; and although the Prof may be right in his assumptions, he should, at least, allow the High Commissioner to do his job using his own Management techniques (rather than his Okoampa's) to get to the bottom of the case

Secondly it sounded you have been away from home, Ghana for too long and may not recognise KIA when you arrive at Accra Ghana because you seem to have no clue about process and the modalities in issuing passports in Ghana. Perhaps Nana Akufo-Addo could educate you more because he was at one stage the working collaboratively with the Passport Dept as the Foreign Minister. Please ask intelligent questions, Ahofe.
