But the NPP has never been led by a non-Akan, lending credence to the perception of the party as an Akan party. Some utterances by senior members of the party have not helped matters.
The NPP’s flag bearer Nana Akufo-Addo is on record to have referred to NPP supporters as “we Akans.” He was addressing party supporters. He has not admitted his fault and apologised for this but he has the audacity to say President Mahama is ethnocentric and divisive. This is the hypocrisy that is killing our country.
A leading member of parliament of the NPP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, in 2012, incited violence against a number of minority ethnic groups and the party did not condemn him. An elder of the NPP, was secretly recorded at a Council of Elders meeting of the NPP questioning why people from parts of the country without resources were governing the country when the natural order of things should have been that those from places with natural resources should govern.
The NPP did not see anything wrong with this. Even within the NPP, there is a superiority contest and friction between the Asante and the Akyem.

Ewes are only now waking up to the fact that the NDC has taken them for granted all this while. Voltarians may feel exceptionally valuable to the electoral outcome now because both major parties are courting their support, but the NPP is more likely to dignify the Volta vote than the NDC.
If Voltarians were smart, they'll vote NPP in exchange for some real development. We live to see . . .

The forthcoming elections is about who kept his promises to the latter.
Take for example the legendary Eastern corridor project. This project has featured on all States of the Nation Addresses and Annual Budget Statements since 2009.
The importance of this project to socio economic development of citizens of the Volta, Eastern and Northern Region cannot be overemphasized. At least if for nothing it drastically reduces travel time from Accra to Tamale.
It suddens my that the NDC government did not realize from 2009 to date that completing that project fully on time within 8 years will have guaranteed it 100% votes in elections beyond 2024 onwards. Sadly an adhoc approach of splitting the project into pieces is what is taking place.
To add insult to injury funding for the project has been shifted to COCOBOD. When do we produce enough cocoa beans sell before raising funds to finance this project? Ironically when it comes to Bole/Bamboi, Sawla/Tuulna/Kalba and Salaga/Damongo road projects, JDM quickly goes for Multilateral/Bilateral loans to finance world ashphalt roads. Eastern corridor Volta Region roads only qualify for bitumen surfacing abi!
Voters in the Volta Region, shut your ears to these infantile minds and vote according to your conscience and policies outlined.
Lets grow above this pettiness and not accept this insulting "World Bank
