You have said it all Selorm. All the underlining base thinking that NPP or Akufo Ado will drive away all Voltarians when they come to power has been nonsense and false from day one. I have lived in Asanteland for long to know that that thinking had no basis although the agelong belief had been passed on from father to son so gleefully and enthusiastically. I personally think this has a basis in imagined Asante hegemony... taking roots from 17 th and 18th century Osei Tutu war exploits. How present day Voltarians should think we have to live in the Asante ancient past, an agenda pushed by selfish politicians is a grievous mistake which Voltarian youth must reject vehemently. I expect Akufo Ado who is no Asante to form an effective broad based administration at all levels.. executive, military, police, civil service, Board membership .... to reflect all regions. Voltarians must also especially accept that their huge dominance in the police, civil service, military, NADMO, immigration, scholarship holding, etc has come out of agelong manipulation and cronyism and be prepared to accept broad based reforms to consolidate Ghanas unity.
These Issues will be dealt with comprehensively later.

It does behoove me to hear people in high and low places pay homage to J.J. as if he is the greatest thing that ever happened to Ghana. If J.J. Rawlings is one of your own in the Volta that is all well and good but remember jealousy has a damn big role in J.J. Rawlings turncoat stance.
How is J J. Rawlings any better above corruption or murder in Ghana? Are Ghanaians supposed to normalize J.J's acceptance of bribe from a Nigerian sources as better because a corrupt politician in Nigeria is better for Ghana or that his vindictiveness against the late Atta-Mills for not throwing NPP folks in jail for presumed mismanagement would have been better for the NDC? Where would the NDC folks be today if the late Atta-Mills had heeded to the short-sightedness of a vindictive Rawlings? There is no political party or politician in Ghana without fault; they do have their fan base all the same out of tribal loyalty but that is not saying much.
Is the NPP supposed to be better when a day after winning the 2016 election an actress could shamelessly ask another artist to leave Ghana as if Ghana is a one party state with dictates from one tribal region. And just like the USA which has seen its democratic system tampered with by Russian manipulation so it is that Ghana cannot and must not be proud as an independent nation when the UK ambassador to Ghana is allowed to play lord over Ghana. We are sufficiently weak allowing this UK ambassador to take shots at Ghanaian citizens when the moron could not do so even from anywhere in the UK where he is sure to live under enforceable laws.

Then, all of a sudden, John Mahama was reported to have copied from Akufo-Addo the ethnocentric appeal for votes, which the NPP used against the former more effectively than the NDC could against the NPP.

There is no doubt that J. J.'s sheer Political significance to our country could not have been, if it were not for the assistance or support of many others from all the various Tribes in the country. Even though his support in the Volta Region was central, he had a considerable support from even the Ashantis who most folks believe are the strongest anti-J. J. people in Ghana.

So, it is not just because of your exclusive support for J. J. as your 'one of your own' that catapulted him into Political limelight.

Meanwhile, times have changed, and there are factors that demand that people look beyond J. J. to seek a better Ghana for all. If the NDC does not realize that and refocus away from J. J. to all the other devoted leaders for around the Nation, the Party would soon break up or dwindle. The Star of the NDC has lost much of its luster.

One thing that has kept the NPP ever so strong is the continued re-invigoration of the Party, at least, in rhetorical claim of dynamic vision for Ghana and its less obvious association with its horrific violent progenitor, the UP/NLM, even as it touts the exploits of J. B. Danquah and Busia and Dombo.

The NDC under Mahama's leadership seemed to have revamped itself from the beginning with the massive activation of the younger generation to take up Cabinet and top managerial positions. But the Party allowed too much aloofness for the young Officials to fool around for too long and too much. NDC lost the central control for discipline and accountability that had long been its hallmarks.

Now that heads are banging against one another to apportion blames in the NDC for its failure to retain Power, it would take a greater commitment and honest and humble concession of errors to hold the Party together. Else, the Party would lose its total appeal to the young and visionary activists and its center cannot hold anymore.

The CPP, for example, also failed to pursue the younger generation to help set the pace for the Future, and instead still clang unto its 'old boys', and lost its appeal to the general Public. It has refused to change its name to adopt another that the younger generation could feel more comfortable associating with, even as the core Principles of the Party stayed almost the same.

The smear the CPP bore from the disinformation campaign that its foes, both internal and external to the country, waged against it is still too thick to be ignored by most younger folks. Such is why the cosmetics of a new name may not seem very important but could serve as an excuse for someone young to claim that it is a new Party and join with less reservation.

This name-change is a neat ploy all the various and many incarnations of the UP/NLM Party have used over the decades.

If the CPP wants to beat the other Parties, it would have to be on the same pitch, and not be complacent with keeping the old deeply tainted name.

Has any of you bothered to check the political trajectory of this country to know which people have really been voting one way throughout our history? That a non Ashanti/Akyems party gets some votes from the Ashanti region is because of its cosmopolitan nature, thus having a large concentration of Ewes and Northerners. In fact, until the Victor Owusu insult, Ewes have on occasions voted for the UP tradition. The Asantes and Akyems have always voted more one way than any group of people but no one questions that. Why then dies it become an issue because Ewes vote for the NDC? and surprisingly ignorant Ewes like you and Laila Dzansi have been conned to look down on themselves. Why don't they tell the Asantes and Akyems to also change their voting pattern? Is it because they see you Ewes as so inferior to be thus insulted? It's the very weak and lose thinking of people like you that these very tribal and one-way-voting Asante/Akyem group have the nerves to look down on Ewes and Northerners. Your Write-up is an insult to Ewes, and a far cry from the truth about one-way voting in Ghana. Nobody begrudges your choice of party to support, but please do a little of intellectual analysis before drawing conclusions that have long been determined by people who are always looking for gullible persons like you to spread their well-calculated propaganda. By the way, do not think that the NDC has been dissipated as you claim. The party is very strong and resilient, and will sure bounce back in 2020. Just concentrate on however your NPP will fulfill the numerous sweet promises they used to woo Ghanaians. There will be no excuses because they have really raised expectations to unprecedented heights. It's now time for redemption. For your information, the NDC still got over 82%of the Volta votes although the absolute figures were lower than expected due to voter apathy.

Kofour 8 yrs to that of Pres Mahama 4 yrs. But the Ashanti's still did not vote for Mahama bcos of loyalty. If u want me to mention them I will; military hospital, kejetia market, airport expansion, among others. Traders in Kumasi promised to reduce price of good to make Nana's govt admirable but intensionally increased it to Mahama's govt look bad. They did not say if Nana comes n reduce tax, electricity n fuel prices before they reduce, they stated it without conditions. Kofour's govt had southern majority appointees, nobody tagged his failures to tribal appointment. Mahama had northerners n voltarian majority appointees, they tagged his failure to northerners been majority. But let me tell u, we wouldn't get sincere people in Ghana if not from north, talk of Manasseh, Ana's n Martin amindu. I hate Mahama govt bcos of corruption especially sole sourcing but I always asked, is npp the best alternative? No. There's no reward for robbing or stealing in the pretext of feeding the poor. If Ghanaians don't change to parties like the PPP we will be digging our graves. It is my wish that Nana prosecute those suspected of corruption without mercy.
