If Akufo-Addo wins a second term, he'll be 80 when he leaves office. This supposes that he's in good health. Nobody wishes him dead but he should also be healthy at 77. Else he'll be physically weak and Muhammadu Bawumia will be doing much of the active work.

It is also possible that Akufo will decide to do only one term and make way for Muhammadu. But then Muhammadu will have to face the voters on his own merits as a front man. But if Akufo-Addo does not stand again for a second term, others in NPP will want the job and Muhammadu will have a hard time winning the party's primaries.

Meanwhile, NDC will be reorganizing its forces. That party is far from dead.

It's difficult to look in to the country's political future even in the short run. The long run of 16 years is quite impossible.

Ghana needs the sturdy and quality leadership and competent human capital provided by the NPP to govern the country for decades in order to get Ghana to a middle income industrialized economy
