Fight Over Cat Meat Lands Brothers In Jail, Hospital

Misunderstanding between two brothers over cat meat has resulted in one of them being in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

For causing unlawful harm to his brother, Eric Fobih, 28, a mason, has been sentenced to one year in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court.

Eric, who pleaded guilty to the one count of causing unlawful harm preferred against him by the prosecution, was convicted on his own plea by the court, presided over by Ms Afua Adu-Amankwah and sentenced accordingly.

In passing the sentence, the judge said though the crime committed was second felony and carries a maximum sentence of 10 years, she took into consideration the fact that the convict was not known to the law, his youthful age “and besides, he pleaded guilty at his first appearance.’’

Facts

Presenting the facts of the case, Inspector Daniel Opoku, told the court that the convict, a mason and Nkansah,unemployed were both residents of Kokoso, a suburb of Kumasi.

He said on March 27, 2014, the two brothers had a meal of cat meat for lunch and reserved some for their supper after which they both left the house.

However, he said after they had left, Nkansah sneaked into the house and ate the rest of the meat.

According to Inspector Opoku, when Eric returned later in the evening and realised that his elder brother had eaten the meat, he confronted him and that resulted in a fight.

Mr Opoku said in the process, Eric took a cutlass that was lying on the ground, and inflicted deep wounds on the hands and legs of the brother.

The victim was rushed to the Emergency and Trauma Unit of KATH where he had remained on admission.

Later on, the case was reported to the police leading to Eric’s arrest.

When shall we grow out of this infantile desires? We don't want to put all our energy in improving public transport in this age of environmental consciousness. Everybody is buying a car even though the roads are not improving sufficiently to accommodate all those cars.

The Mass Transport buses in Accra go empty or half filled, the trotros are begging for passengers yet people are driving private cars to work every day. Even ordinary civil servants are driving cars to work.

If this new NPP regime is wise, it will ensure that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service investigates Dumelo's Kweku Ananse claims, prosecutes him for attempting to bribe the task force that retrieved the vehicle he sent to a vehicle spraying workshop in Dzorwulu - and for the sake of Mother Ghana, hopefully, the law courts then jail him: to serve as a warning to other chancers waiting in the wings for the opportunity to exploit our nation by allying themselves to political parties.

John Mahama was cynically exploited by such dubious and greedy characters - ruthless individuals with no moral compasses who simply sought to "Chop Ghana small."

That ought to outrage any patriotic Ghanaian who is aware of the suffering millions struggling to survive daily because high-level corruption is sucking the very lifeblood out of Mother Ghana.

Speaking as a journalist, the worry about the Daily Post for me is why a media house seems so quick to take up the 'defence' of Dumelo without actually verifying his bogus claims independently. Pity.

In the case of Iran the woman was said to have been rapped and murdered. However, it is interesting that the rapped and murdered woman is walking alive on the streets of London.
It is on record that just as NATO has been using terrorists in their undeclared wars in which they later intervened with the ruse of saving lives, Nana Akufo-Addo and NPP have deployed their hounds to threaten and frighten Ghanaians into submission with the lie of retrieving state stolen vehicles.
It is time for the British government to recall its High Commissioner John Benjamin before he let things get out of hand, which all Ghanaians and African will say the hand of the British government is in it. Things may get out of hand and the Ghanaian Christian who always give it to God may decide to act to protect his country and citizens from British interference.
