Brilliant as always is our Sidney. Great piece.
Our leaders ought to let themselves be inspired by the dynamism and imaginative leadership of the Emir of Dubai - where the hyperloop is being turned into a fact on the ground.
If we get in on the ground floor too, in time, our Sidney can zip to and from his meetings up north in minutes either way, and in the lap of luxury.
As for Parliament, it is a chamber of privilege, where the super-rich get their lobbyists to facilitate the passage of laws guaranteed to increase their net worth yet further (to stratospheric heights).
It is done by the simple measure of paying for workshops and seminars for MPs - rumoured to be given fat brown envelopes as attendance allowances according to bush telegraph sources - to advance their causes. Simple.
Finally, for all the Sydney Casely-Harfords of Ghana, I recommend imbibing the nation-building financial wisdom contained in the content posted on the website of the International Movement for Monetary Reform (IMMR).
Hopefully, OccupyGhana will form a local chapter here and advocate for quantitive easing by the Bank of Ghana for players in the real economy.
And whiles they are at it, Occupy!Ghana should also advocate for abolishing personal income tax and making Ghana the investment destination with Africa's lowest corporate tax rates.

READ: "...Joe Ghartey...No brain-dead ideas like building our own trains...".
WE SAY: Right on.
ITEM: The so-called Ministry of Railways has only one primary job to "zoom in": ----get trains to depart and arrive on time, safely, while re-coup as much of public expenditure as possible. Joe Ghartey has no mandate to create a "railway industry" for Ghana. (We discuss this matter in our upcoming essay, "Prof Lungu's 19-point advisory for Serious Akufo-Addo!". Get is this weekend.
Peace!

The reason why we have been underdeveloping is simply the derailment of the Nmrumahist vision and plan, and it's substitution with systematic corruption and thievery, ignorance and lack of vision and culture by the various govts we've had since 1966. The worst damage done by the worst culprits - NDC and NPP - is clear to the masses but not "good coup" democrats and self-styled experts such as Sidney Casely-Hayford.
Today Sidney glibly peddles himself as some sort of science and technology guru. Nkrumah's 7 yr development plan and his book "Africa Must Unite" are must- reads for those who do not wish to be subjected to the hypocrisy and opportunism of apologists of either faction of the duopoly of failure and thievery in Ghana.
