Newcastle United winger Christian has paid glowing tribute to Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan, describing the Black Stars skipper as a “blessing”.
Asamoah Gyan became the first player to score 50 goals for Ghana on Sunday.
The former Sunderland striker scored his 50th goal for the national team in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Walias of Ethiopia at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
He opened the scoring when he headed a delightful cross by Thomas Agyepong. Atsu took to Social media platform Instagram to honour his national team captain for the feat.
The 32-year-old has therefore joined an illustrious list of Africa greats such as Godfrey Chitalu, Hossan Hassan, Didier Drogba and four time African player of the year Samuel Eto, as the only players to have reached the 50 goal landmark in national colours.
