The president of the senior staff association of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Charles Offei-Palm has served notice he will sue management over his dismissal.

Offei-Palm’s dismissal letter has been circulated just two weeks after he was interdicted for flouting the hospital’s regulations. His interdiction follows a media interview he granted in which he accused the management and board of running down the facility.

Offei-Palm has already filed a suit challenging his interdiction, questioning the justification of the dismissal letter because of the pending court suit over his interdiction.

“There is a clear cut of victimization and my human rights have been violated upon by the management of Korle Bu,” Offei-Palm told Starr News.

“It is unfair to me. What I’m seeing is that the management is trying to intimidate us. It won’t augur well in the coming days.”

A letter addressed to Offei-Palm and signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu, Dr. Gilbert Buckle, said the decision was taken upon recommendations by the institution’s Disciplinary Committee, and the termination of appointment takes effect from April 6, 2016.

The letter also noted that Mr. Offei-Palm will receive one month pay, in lieu of notice which will be paid to him at the end of April.

“You have 3 months, with effect from the date of your termination, to vacate your official accommodation and hand over the keys to the Head of Estates.”

He has thus been instructed to “handover" any property of the hospital in his possession to his immediate supervisor.

Mr Offei-palm is disregarding the instruction in the dismissal letter to handover any property of the hospital in his possession.
