In many countries working in difficult or less attractive regions of a country attracts significant incentives including higher pay, various bonuses and perks and sometimes additional points which help individuals to go up the career ladder quicker.
What is our government doing to make these rural postings for healthcare workers (including doctors) more attractive? A TYPICAL HEALTHCARE WORKER POSTED TO THE HINTERLAND IS PROBABLY BELOW THE AGE OF 45 YEARS OLD, ARE PROBABLY RAISING A YOUNG FAMILY AND DESPERATELY WANT TO PROVIDE THEIR CHILDREN WITH GOOD EDUCATION. LACK OF BASIC AMENITIES ARE A PERRENIAL PROBLEM. A FAR MORE SERIOUS ISSUE IS THAT OF POOR WORKING ENVIRONMENT (LACK OF EQUIPMENT POOR STAFFING) IN MOST RURAL HOSPITALS AND HEALTH CENTRES. In short working in these rural areas can be very frustrating and even demoralising!
Until these basic issues are addressed head-on by the government of the day it is fruitless trying to compel Healthcare workers, Teachers and other essential workers to move to the rural areas.
With all due respect to the minister, going to check on who went to their posts or who did not WILL NOT PREVENT THE CURRENT CRISIS CONTINUING TO OCCUR. PLEASE ADDRESS THE FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEMS AND THE THESE CRITICAL ISSUES WILL SIMPLY RESOLVE VY THEMSELVES!!

The minister is not truthful. You opened the portal for recruitment last year May. No recruitment of doctors who applied has been done. Please publish the list with the region for all to see. Don't throw dust in our eyes
