  We must ensure that the nhis works. I have relatives in the village and i am happy about how the nhis responds to their health needs. nhis needs support and not useless criticisms.

  Someone should tell Anthony Gingong to stop misleading stakeholders if he is ignorant of the role of capitation. Capitation is a cost containment strategy. There is no clear scientific evidence that capitation improves quality of care. Did he learn from the Ashanti pilot that quality of care has improved following the introduction of capitation? I am fully in support of capitation but we must not raise false expectation that capitation will improve quality of care in Ghana. If under the fee for service system, providers are allowed an unrestricted opportunity of treating more people with the best medical technology and claiming more reimbursement and yet clients complain about poor quality of care, what do you think will happen if you now give providers a predetermined amount to provide services for a number of people within a specific period of time? Even, people like Gingong himself needs more sensitization on the concept of capitation
