People in Ghana and all of Africa need to be educated on mental health to help stem the stigma.Folks in Ghana and all of Africa think people with health are only those roaming the streets either naked or dingy,or sharbly dressed but that is not the case there are several in various homes that need medical attention but because of the lack of education that word mental seems to be a taboo.Mental just like BP,Diabetes,Asthma,Ulcer etc.can happen to anybody at any day any time.It happens to Lawyers,Pastors,Teachers,Nurses any colour or race.It just like any other sickness and there can several causes mitigating that.It could be death of a loved one, divorce, break up in a relationship, fall during childhood, accident in sports, car, genetic, premature births, homomnal inbalances, drugs and excess alcohol etc.so it is about time the media picks this up to educate our people and governments also need to find the funding to give better care to the afflicted.People should be made to understand that mental problem is not caused by the innocent old lady in the house and these should quit concocting stories just to prey on these gullibles and stop bringing confusion in families.
