  The samples were sent from various health facilities around the country to Noguchi Memorial Institute. God help us! And how many days did it take for the samples to reach Accra? Ghana is essentially a third world country with a third world medical facilities. Why can't the regional hospitals test for Ebola? And you think having just one testing lab is sufficient?

  Such institutes are VITAL establishments for any nation and must always be given priority over sports stadiums and party headquarters.

  I can't understand this thing. Up till now, apart from Noguchi, you can't test for Ebola anywhere in Ghana. Why?

  You might be confusing EVALUATING Ebola symptoms with TESTING for the presence of the virus (via PCR) in a tiny sample of blood.

  You can evaluate the symptoms in a tent, but the lab test for the presence of the virus in a sample of blood requires a modern containment molecular biology lab outfitted with sophisticated biohazard equipment.
  
  Don't forget, one would be handling blood samples potentially containing thousands of Ebola virus particles.
  
  The molecular biology techniques for detecting viral infection are only available at modern RESEARCH labs, not your garden-variety hospital clinical lab.
