The cost of dumsor keeps going up. Another question is the opportunity cost of this expenditure. it's unlikely the assembly had a budget for this generator so something in the budget have to be cancelled or we create another deficit situation at the local and national level.
A large part of this problem is the collection of revenue from electricity consumers
What's so difficult about doing that. It's been going on for decades yet solutions are not being implemented. Budgetary controls is not rocket science. You don't have to be an accountant to enforce them. Even animals manage to do this better. Arts store their food and don't just eat everything. We cannot spend like there's no tomorrow and then borrow to eat and borrow to pay our debts. We are not animals but sadly we first need to raise our game to the level of animals before hopefully getting to the human standard. We have animals who continue to vote ndc

Sadly the generators plant that former president Kufuor imported into country arrieve into the country after Mills took over power and they said it was imported by NPP so they have nothing to do with it to let tax payer money go waste while our hospitals lack emergency power plant to run during blackouts and president Mahama and his criminal NDC box those generation plant Kufuor imported in the country and ship them to Sierra Leone secretly without Ghanaians knowing his criminal wicked intentions.Sadly the man who brought cocoa to Ghana NDC could not keep his memory alive. Is this the government we want?just look at our nation debt GHC98 billion and Tetteh Quarshie near cloure.what sick government do we have in Ghana?

Where are our so called rich people from the area. Could they not have come together to donate a generator? Are they there only for showing off their wealth at funerals?

J.K Atta, yours is a senseless question. When was the first time that the administrators announced that the generator of the hospital was not working? One thing you should know is that it is not the responsibilities of the rich people in any area to provide the basic necessities to the people they live with. As it is with all hospitals in the country,it is the governments. Why is it that the government provides generators to Korle Bu. Komfo Anokye etc, but not Tetteh Quarshie? Don't the inhabitants at Akuapem pay the same taxes as those living in Accra and Kumase? Secondly if the socalled rich people in that area will choose to use their monies on funerals it is their business. But the maintenances of public facilities are the government's responsibilities. So do not blame any rich person for the government's ineptness.

Friend, the hospital had a stand-by generator and has been working for the past 20 years. It just broke down due to over working (may be). This is a machine which is bound to break down from time to time. It was to the hospital authorities that have to get the foresight to anticipate such a situation and make the necessary provision, either to rent one for temporal use.

Ghana some 57 years after independence and some 40+years after Nkrumah gave us Akosombo dam was not completely and comprehensively electrified for President Mahama to take it away. But the one thing I am sure of is the people of the Eastern region and of the district covering where Tetteh Quarshie hospital stands have had representation in our "wonderful" parliament to advocate for the people's interest. Blaming Mahama even as goat heads, the educated, the not so educated and the ignorant from the Eastern region fight for the memory of their retarded representatives and bomb throwers of the UP/UGCC/matemeho era won't float my boat. Why not ask the Akufo-Addo's, the Ofori-Atta's, the Okoampa-Ahoofe's and the Akadu Mensama's of the region who could give a darm? Charity must begin at home and if this old adage holds true and dear to the wise in Ghana then let us get off our collective lazy ass and work for the interest of Ghana and the people we represent. Funding think tanks and self righteous jerks while clinics and hospitals fall apart around us does not show us as people with priorities but a people dogged by tribal and party politics of the worst kind.
