President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has updated Ghanaians on the Agenda 111 project, adding that eight district hospitals are almost completed, 3news.com has reported.

According to the president, the entire project had reached 69% completion as of September 2024.

The president believes that several facilities of the project which are now over 90% complete would be finished by the end of the year.

During the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on October 18, 2024, the president said, “These projects represent the fulfilment of our commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage and ensuring the delivery of more efficient healthcare services across the country.

“Our healthcare infrastructure stands as one of the greatest legacies of my administration,” he added.

Alongside efforts to expand healthcare infrastructure, the Akufo-Addo administration has prioritised addressing the unequal distribution of health workers, especially in rural areas.

“We remain steadfast in addressing the uneven distribution of healthcare workers,” Akufo-Addo stated.

The president advised the Ministry of Health to speed up the finalisation of an incentive package aimed at ensuring that healthcare personnel are deployed where they are most needed.

The initiative forms part of the government’s larger strategy to promote more equitable access to healthcare services nationwide.

He said, “I urge the Ministry of Health to expedite the completion of the draft incentive package for government consideration, ensuring that healthcare staff are placed where they are most needed.”
