The Omanhene of Banda Traditional Council, Nana Sekyemme Sinapem II, has applauded the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for consistently supporting the people of Banda.

The Banda constituency, in the Bono Region, has traditionally voted for the NDC since its creation in 2012.

However, welcoming Dr. Bawumia to the constituency on Sunday, the Omanhene praised the NPP government under the administrations of President John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo for implementing major projects in the constituency.

"Some time ago, we requested the realisation of the Bui power project, which Kwame Nkrumah planned but could not complete due to being overthrown. We pursued it through the then government, but it did not materialise despite our efforts. In fact, one of the leaders then, a Deputy Minister of Agriculture, even suggested that we plant a new breed of cassava plant instead of pursuing the Bui Dam," the Omanhene recalled.

"Fortunately, President Kufuor listened to our concerns, and the Bui Dam project was completed under the NPP government of Kufuor, which opened up opportunities in the area."

"Our roads were also in poor condition, and Kufuor recognized the need for improvements. The first tarred road in Banda was constructed by the NPP government of Kufuor. Additionally, the same NPP government provided a significant extension of electricity to the area," he added.

The Omanhene also noted that the trend of the NPP delivering development projects to Banda has continued under the administration of President Akufo-Addo since 2017.

"Under the government of Nana Akufo-Addo, the Bui Dam has seen extensions with the addition of solar power. Through our brother Joe Dankwa, another stretch of road has been completed here by the NPP. Therefore, the two tarred roads in Banda were both constructed by the NPP.

"In our community, most farmers are cashew farmers. We also have a cashew processing factory and a sugar cane factory, all established by the NPP," he mentioned.

The Omanhene continued to commend the NPP by highlighting ongoing road projects and other initiatives, including the construction of 8 durbar grounds and an astroturf under the Middle Belt Development Authority by the Akufo-Addo government.

While appealing to Dr. Bawumia to ensure the completion of ongoing projects, he assured him of the constituency's support and their intention to elect the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Joe Dankwa, whom he described as "development-oriented" to Parliament.

They also appealed to Dr. Bawumia to consider Banda for one of the Agenda 111 hospital projects due to the inconvenience of traveling from Banda to Nsokwa for improved healthcare access.

"If we are here today, we are here wholeheartedly to support you so that our community will experience more development," the Omanhene said.

Dr. Bawumia assured the Omanhene of his commitment to continuing the NPP's tradition of being a government for all, ensuring him that the concerns he raised regarding the hospital and other issues will be addressed.

Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude to the Banda Traditional Council for their encouragement, assuring them that he will not disappoint as President because he must be accountable to the people in order to earn their mandate again.
