CHRAJ failed to confirm allegations I made against Rev. Kusi Boateng – Okudzeto Ablakwa

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has criticised the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) for not thoroughly investigating allegations against Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, despite the substantial evidence submitted.

He contends that CHRAJ's report, which exonerated Rev. Kusi Boateng from accusations of having double identity and conflicts of interest, fell short of addressing the petition's full scope.

According to a report by myjoyonline.com, he made these remarks during an interview on The Pulse on Joy News on Monday, November 25, 2024.

Okudzeto Ablakwa further expressed his dissatisfaction with CHRAJ's handling of the case, stating, "CHRAJ did not do justice to the petition as they 'only scratched the surface' of the allegations concerning double identity and conflict of interest of Rev. Kusi Boateng."

He explained that CHRAJ failed to fully examine all the evidence he presented, relying solely on passport documentation.

"My petition succeeded in a larger part regarding procurement breaches and corruption-related offences. However, on the conflict-of-interest allegations against Rev. Kusi Boateng, CHRAJ failed to confirm the allegations despite the substantial evidence I submitted," he noted.

He mentioned that CHRAJ's assessment mainly relied on passport documentation and did not consider other forms of identification, such as a driver's license and Ghana Card, which were also presented as part of the evidence.

"CHRAJ referenced Rev. Kusi Boateng's appointment to the National Cathedral Board under that name, but his diplomatic passport was issued in the name of Kwabena Adu Gyamfi," he added.

The North Tongu MP petitioned CHRAJ in January 2023 to investigate Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, the Secretary of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees, over concerns of a possible conflict of interest and questions surrounding his multiple identities.

He cited a transfer of GH¢2.6 million from the National Cathedral Secretariat to JNS Talent Centre Limited, a company owned by Rev. Kusi Boateng under the pseudonym Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, as part of his concerns.
