Saltpond (C/R), Aug. 16, GNA - Prof. Dominic Fobih, Minister of Lands, Forestry and Mines has urged supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to continue to work hard to improve living conditions in the country.

"The party has not yet reached the end of the journey it has promised to take Ghanaians".

Prof Fobih cautioned the supporters to be mindful of their utterances so that people did not misconstrue their unguarded statements as the stand of the government.

Speaking at a get-together organised by Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment, at Saltpond, as part of his thanksgiving to God for his elevation to full ministerial status

Papa Owusu Ankomah, Minister of Education, Science and Sports said the party belonged to the people at the polling stations and advised polling station executives to sell the achievements of the government to the people.

The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mr Joe Ghartey urged Ghanaians to guard jealously against the freedoms they now enjoyed since it was not a facility, which could be bought. He urged the people to bring persons who wanted to abuse the freedom of speech to order.

The freedoms enshrined in the 1992 Constitution, he said were meant to promote national unity by allowing people to voice out what was agitating their minds, but expressed regret that some people had seen this laudable intention of the writers of the Constitution as a licence to insult people in authority or use it to settle personal scores. Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah, Minister for the Interior urged Ghanaians not to let politics divide them.

He appealed to the detractors of the government to give it credit for the achievements it has chalked.

Mr Kennedy Agyepong, Member of Parliament for Assin North said development was a programme, which a lot of people could benefit from, but not doling out money to some few individuals. "If we do not have money in our pockets now we should be happy that the government is laying a sound foundation for a brighter future for our children.

Mr Asamoah-Boateng who is also MP for Mfantseman West thanked his constituents for their support.
