The Alliance for Truth, a political group in Brong-Ahafo, has commended the government for the high level and rapid socio-economic development in the Techiman Municipality.

It observed that, in the past five years, the Techiman Municipality had witnessed tremendous development in the areas of education, water and sanitation, roads, bridges, health, market, education and general administration.

At a news conference at Techiman on Monday, the group emphasized that Ghanaians ought to appreciate efforts and commitment by the government towards national construction processes, in the midst of the staggering economic challenges.

Mr Sampson Adre, Secretary of the Alliance, explained that the group worked to champion the course of truth “in our body politics in an attempt to shelve lies, vindictiveness, back-biting and character assassination that seem to take center stage in our democratic dispensation.”

Outlining some of the development projects which had been undertaken in the Municipality, Mr Adre said, a six-unit classroom block had been constructed at Bowohommoden and Krobo local primary schools, with an on-going ultra-modern ICT centre at Krobo, and a community library at Tuobodom.

He said work on the boys and girls dormitories, assembly hall and administration block at the Techiman Senior High School, were steadily progressing, and that include the construction of a dining hall complex, and a 12-unit classroom block at the Akumfi Ameyaw SHS.

On water and sanitation, Mr Adre noted that government had constructed 118 boreholes and additional 12 mechanized ones, four small town water systems in the Municipality.

The Secretary of the Alliance for Truth, said the road sector had also seen some improvements, with the re-shaping and re-gravelling of 124 kilometres of feeder roads, adding that on completion, the Tuobodom-Offuman- Wenchi road, which is under construction, will facilitate easy movement of the farmers and enhance economic activities.

The health sector had also seen historical landmarks, with the establishments of the Holy Family Nursing Training School, Krobo Community Health Training School, 27 CHPS compounds, as well as a maternity ward at the Nsuta health centre, Mr Adre stated.

He said supply of hospital equipment to the Fiaso CHPS compound and the Techiman Polyclinic had resulted in an increase in membership of the National Health Insurance Scheme with active membership standing at 178,000 as compared to the 100,000 membership in 2009/2010.

Mr Adre emphasized that the government's commitment and determination to transform the Techiman Market into a modern one, was yielding positive results with the construction of 200 sheds with pavement blocks at the maize selling centre.

The Secretary of the Alliance for Truth, disclosed that the construction of a complex abattoir and market stores by the Techiman Municipal Assembly were on-going,

He added that the Techiman Municipal Assembly was constructing four bedroom bungalows for the Municipal Chief Executive, and the Municipal Coordinating Director, “saying decentralized departmental staff are true reflection of the Better Ghana agenda.
