Former Minister of Interior, Cletus Apule Avoka has been justifying his decision to return to parliament despite spending five terms; indicating that it is meant to school first time Members of Parliament (MPs).

He disclosed on Bolgatanga-based Yem FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com that he stands a greater chance of improving on the quality of debates on the floor of parliament for the younger ones to emulate.

“I think that given my experience as a five-term MP, I stand the chance of improving on the quality of debates when I go back. Don’t forget that parliament is not a place for vocation or a job for the boys. You have gone one term or two terms let somebody go, go and do what”, he quizzed on the show.

Using the Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu and others as as a yardstick, he said “You recall that anytime Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Bagbin or Haruna Iddrisu is on his feet, there is a lot of wisdom flowing from their mouth, there is a lot of wisdom the young MPs will learn from it”.

According to him, Parliament needs institutional memory which he believes he has and ready to offer for the development of the country just like Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu and Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.
