Ibrahim Mahama claims he made more money under the John Kufuor government than during the presidency of his brother John Mahama.
According to the founder of Engineers and Planners, his companies get more businesses and money under New Patriotic Party (NPP) administrations.
“I became successful much more in Kufuor’s [a former president of Ghana between 2001 and 2008] time because I had nobody hanging round my neck, I rather regret when my brother became Vice president,” Mr. Mahama told graduate students of the University of Ghana on how to become successful entrepreneurs at the 2018 GRASSAG Entrepreneurship Seminar.
The mining magnate noted it was not all rosy for him under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration although his brother was the head of government, adding he was surprised by the actions of people he expected to be nice to him.
Mr. Mahama debunked claims that he is successful because his brother served in the highest office of the land.
“I was who I was before John Mahama picked forms to contest for MP, a lot more of the NPP know this,” he told the gathering.
The renowned businessman also cautioned local entrepreneurs to desist from politics because it could jeopardise their fortunes.
