The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has recently come under serious bashing for openly endorsing and urging delegates to vote for the current National Chairman of the party, Dr Kwabena Adjei.

Speaking at the campaign launch of Dr Kwabena Adjei, the incumbent General Secretary of the NDC, Asiedu Nketia said: “On my way here somebody said, ‘are you going to endorse Dr. Kwabena Adjei?’ I said, Dr Kwabena Adjei doesn’t need my endorsement, he is an endorsement in himself, because your records will speak for you.”

Asiedu Nketia said on PEACE FM that he never declared support for Dr Kwabena Adjei and that he only urged the delegates to choose someone who is hardworking and loyal to the party.

Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as 'General Mosquito' said majority of all those contesting have worked with him at a point in time “and they all need my endorsement.”

“They have all worked with me and they all need my endorsement… but I just urged the delegates to vote for people who are loyal to the party… someone who will work diligently… we need bold and courageous people. I urged them to desist from making an open declaration for a particular candidate because it brings divide and rule in the party. They should vote on the merit of the candidate.”

He added that “nothing can separate me from the relationship I have with Kwabena Adjei whether or not he wins his position and so nobody will succeed in twisting what I have said.”
