Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his commitment to build a factory each in the 216 districts of the country if voted for in the 2016 elections.
According to Nana Akufo-Addo, voting in a competent and visionary government, that has the policies and programmes to create jobs should be of utmost concern to Ghanaians, as the country heads into this year’s elections.
The NPP flagbearer made this known on Monday, July 11, when he toured the Kintampo North and Kintampo South constituencies, on Day 4 of his 5-day tour of the Brong Ahafo Region.
“You have heard me outline my ‘1-District-1-Factory’ policy, which is meant to help create jobs for our young people. I stand by that pledge. We (the NPP) are also coming into office to create an enabling environment for the private sector to flourish, and also diversify and improve our agriculture. This is how we can put cash into the pockets of Ghanaians. When there’s money in the pockets of the citizenry, then there will be progress and peace in the country.”
Visiting Jema, Gulumpe and the main Kintampo township, Nana Akufo-Addo explained that a nation that cannot provide the basic needs of its citizenry risks being plunged into chaos in the not-too-distant future.
“If we are not careful, and implement policies and programmes which will bring jobs to our youth, then disaster may befall us one day. When there is too much hunger and suffering amongst the people, we will end up creating problems for our country. Since we don’t want any problems for Ghana, let us implement policies which forestall any of these problems and create jobs,” he said.
To this end, Nana Akufo-Addo explained that the creation of jobs, as he has previously stated, will be his number 1 focus when he wins this year’s elections.
Nana Akufo-Addo assured residents of Kintampo that the resources and funds for the implementation of these policies are available, as his government will ensure that the rampant looting and widespread theft of public resources, which have become a permanent feature of the Mahama government, are completely eradicated.
“Monies required for the development of our country are finding their ways into pockets of individuals. My government will ensure that the stealing is curtailed, and this will mean that the country will find the monies to implement all these policies,” Akufo-Addo noted.
He continued, “There’s no trace of corruption on my part. I did not come into politics to steal the resources of the nation and to line my pockets with the monies of poor Ghanaians. I am into politics because I want to use the little wisdom, knowledge and strength God has given me to help move Ghana forward, and improve the livelihoods of every Ghanaian.”
The NPP flagbearer, thus, urged residents of Kintampo to vote for the NPP in this year’s elections, explaining that the “one way voting (for NDC) has yielded nothing for you.
This year, let us change things and bring in an NPP government which will bring progress and prosperity to all of you.”
