A former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh is of the conviction that some persons around former President John Dramani Mahama schemed his downfall in 2016.

The former President who was the torch bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lost to current President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after polling 4,701,162 representing 44.4% against 5,697,093 representing 53.80%.

There are indications ex-president John Dramani could stage a comeback in 2020 following pressure from some elements within the NDC as against stiffer opposition from other contenders who feel he let the party down and should take a permanent bow.

But Mr Yamoah Ponkoh said it is immature for John Mahama to decline to represent the party in 2020 indicating that he is their only hope.

According to him, some persons he refused to name who were close to him are responsible for the disgraceful defeat which is an open secret.

He described them as latter day saints who want to appear they know the rudiments of the game but when given the opportunity they woefully failed to deliver.

“Something always speaks to me that, the former president didn’t finish the good work the lord ordained him to do for Ghanaians. I will keep speaking about this until Ghanaians vote him back power to continue his work”. Mr. Yamoah told Accra Fm.

“He is God’s chosen, he never completed his work. But some latter-day saints deceived him. That’s the reason for his fall from the presidency”. He told Accra Fm in the capital.
