Mahama will lose again in 2020 with Stan Dogbe as aide - NDC group warns

NDC Action Movement, a pro-opposition group, has cast doubt over the chances of former President Mahama to regain power in 2020 as he leads the party into the election, ABC News can report.

The Group insists that if the Former President doesn’t reshuffle the people around him, particularly, relegate Stan Dogbe to the background, then he should be prepared to lose the election.

They are of the strong opinion that former President Mahama lost the 2016 elections because of the behaviour and conduct of Stan Dogbe, a Presidential staffer during the Mahama administration.

They say the conduct of Stan Dogbe contributed significantly to the NDC suffering its worst defeat in Ghana’s electoral history. They say John Mahama may yet again suffer another humiliating defeat in 2020 if he fails to sideline the former presidential staffer.

“There have been countless number of times where this rabble-rouser of an aide has attacked Journalists in the past and we shudder to think why and how he is still around our leader. Action Movement is convinced that many of Stan Dogbey’s actions and inactions contributed largely to our humiliating defeat in 2016 general elections” the group stressed.

A statement signed by James Agbey, Leader of the NDC Action Movement, mentioned, “We are hereby demanding his immediate removal as an aide our flagbearer. It will be prudent for him to step aside, and for the NDC to focus on prosecuting the election 2020 agenda. Perhaps, Mahama can still keep him as his house boy if he still want him around but as supporters of the NDC, our plea is that Stan Dogbey must take a back seat so the party can focus on the task ahead.”

As a result, the group is appealing to the leadership of the party to compel the flagbearer to make changes to his inner circle team so his image is not stained.

“We also call on the National Council of Elders to, as a matter of urgency, bring pressure to bear on the Presidential candidate to do the honourable thing” the statement requested.

Below is the full statement of the Group cited by ABC News Ghana.

Stan Dogbey must be sacked as An Aide to John Mahama

Tuesday 16/07/2019

The NDC Action Movement have become aware of another Stan Dogbey bullying tactics and aggression against media practitioners. In his usual element, Stan Dogbey attacked journalists, seized their phones and also prevented some from covering the meeting between members of the Electoral Commission and President Mahama held recently at the instance of the EC in the latter’s his office at Cantonment.

This attitude of Stan Dogbey is becoming one too many and we from the Action Movement want President Mahama to disassociate himself from such embarrassing behaviour.

Stan Dogbey, a bitterly divisive figure who has rape issues hanging around his neck must not be the one managing our presidential candidate.

We recall vividly how Stan Dogbey as Presidential staffer snatched the recorder of a journalist and smashed it. We can also not loose sight of how Stan Dogbey as part of President John Mahama’s official visit to Scotland, angrily shoved a BBC journalist who had sought to interview the President on issues of rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and Transgender in Ghana.

There have been countless number of times where this rabble-rouser of an aide has attacked Journalists in the past and we shudder to think why and how he is still around our leader.

Action Movement is convinced that many of Stan Dogbey’s actions and inactions contributed largely to our humiliating defeat in 2016 general elections.

We wonders why a person with such an important job as an aide to the former president and presidential candidate for the biggest opposition party in Ghana would use his position to bully press men repeatedly. The shame and stigma of rape, divisiveness, and bullying has continue to follow this man and we are calling on Mr Mahama to do away with him with immediate effect.

We are hereby demanding his immediate removal as an aide our flagbearer. It will be prudent for him to step aside, and for the NDC to focus on prosecuting the election 2020 agenda.

Perhaps, Mahama can still keep him as his house boy if he still want him around but as supporters of the NDC, our plea is that Stan Dogbey must take a back seat so the party can focus on the task ahead.

We also call on the National Council of Elders to, as a matter of urgency, bring pressure to bear on the Presidential candidate to do the honorable thing.

Signed: James Agbey (Leader of the Action Movement)
