Member of Parliament for Mampong, Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong, has accused former MP Francis Addai-Nimoh of devising rough tactics to achieve his presidential ambition.

According to MP, issues regarding Mr Addai Nimo first being prevented from picking parliamentary nomination forms and subsequent refusal of the constituency executives to accept same were part of a grand scheme by the former MP become popular.

“The agenda of Addai-Nimo has been exposed; the man has presidential ambitions. The man wants his name to be in the media space,” Mr Sarpong told our correspondent William Evans-Nkum Tuesday.

He said after Nimo’s forms issue emerged, he made “noise all over,” saying “Addai Nimo publicise it so much so that the only medium he probably did not go was Aljazeera, and BBC and CNN.

“There is an agenda like I said, to keep his name in the media space to be seen as the victim for him to be seen as [though] the whole party machinery was against him,” the MP claimed.

Mr Sarpong has meanwhile denied accusations of causing mayhem in the constituency to frustrate Mr Addai-Nimo in the party’s parliamentary primary.

“Addai-Nimo had gone to submit his nomination forms and they had been rejected or refused and as a result of the rejection and the refusal, the party people have pounced on his people.”

He claimed that the people Addai-Nimo sent to the party office were not delegates or even known to be members of the NPP.

“All of them appears to be aliens; people he imported them, we don’t know them from the constituency level to the polling station level. We don’t know those people,” he stated.

The MP alleged that his contender brought those people to cause mayhem “so that at the end of mayhem they will not be traceable”.
