NDC government deserves a second term - Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama says his administration has laid a solid foundation in infrastructural development in the last three and half years and requires another term to fulfill its mandate.

He noted that the massive development in the area of road construction, building of schools and hospitals, provision of potable drinking water, access to electricity among other social interventions provide a springboard in human aspirations.

President Mahama was addressing a mammoth rally at Elubo in the Jomoro constituency to kick-start a-four-day campaign to canvass for votes in the Western Region after the national campaign launch of the party for the 2016 general elections at Cape Coast last weekend.

Earlier,the President made a stop over at Agona-Nkwanta and Abura in the Ahanta West constituency to address a cross-section of people in the area on the need to retain the NDC government in power to continue with its development agenda.

Later President Mahama addressed a national grand fisheries durbar at Axim in the Evaloe-Adjomoro-Gwira constituency where he assured the fishing community of government's preparedness to create an enabling environment for fishing expeditions in the county.

He hinted of government's intention to build a mini-harbor and a cold store at Axim to augment and boost fishing activities to improve the standard of living of the fisher folks and fishmongers in the area.

The President said canoes will soon be registered to determine the quantity of pre-mix fuel to the fisher folks and also ensure that fisher folks get an insurance cover to safeguard their operations in times of any eventuality.

He said his government is poised to revamp defunct factories of first President of Ghana,Dr. Kwame Nkrumah which were collapsed after his overthrow adding that "the NDC government has initiated the Kumasi shoe factory which has employed 200 young men and women. The Komenda sugar factory and the Tema oil Refinery(TOR) are also back on stream" among others.

President Mahama said the NDC is cocksure of winning the December 7 elections hence, the party has remained cool and collected and will allow the Electoral Commission(EC) to do its work without attacking it.

At Kamgbunli in the Ellembelle Constituency ,the residents lined up in their numbers to meet the President where he made a stop over to seek their mandate in the December elections.

At Elubo, the President said the Ghana-Nungua cocoa growing road had been awarded on contract to boost cocoa production in the area and hinted of the construction of the Elubo-Enchi road in due course.

He said government has introduced a number of modules in the national youth employment and asked the youth to apply to go through the requisite training and prepare them for the job market.

President Mahama hinted of upgrading the Elubo health centre into a polyclinic. He introduced the Parliamentary candidate for Jomoro, Mr. Thomass Elleam Yankey and that of Evaloe-Gwira at Axim Mr. Tanikyi Kesse.
