The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, says Ghanaians must now know that the opposition NPP has no campaign message.
He said the New Patriotic Party has therefore adopted to trivialities and “shopping” for concepts from the ruling NDC to campaign on.
According to Mr Adams, any “serious opposition party” that means well for Ghana should by now have an idea what message it intends to sell to the electorates to win their votes.
“The NPP has no programme, no ideas, nothing for this country. They are just shoppers of ideas,” Mr Adams told NEAT FM’s show ‘Ghana Montie’.
“It’s outrageous for an opposition party to delay its manifesto until an incumbent launches its own. Up till now the NPP cannot come out with their manifesto so they have no message for the electorates. They [NPP] are just waiting to counter on what the NDC will be doing. They are all over shopping for ideas and encounter hitches,” Mr Adams added.
He said unlike the NPP, the NDC has a well-structured programme it is already implementing to change the lives of Ghanaians. This he noted will be penned in the yet to be outdoored manifesto. He added that his party will soon launch it as well as its Presidential Campaign team as it begins a massive campaign to show the massive infrastructure projects and other bold initiatives by President John Mahama to assure the people of hope ahead.
“The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party is currently working on the venue for the event. And we shall let the Ghanaian know the expected impact of the numerous projects we have undertaken,” Mr. Adams said.
Giving an update on how the NDC is positioning itself to prosecute the 2016 agenda, Mr. Adams highlighted the party’s manifesto as focusing on “investing in our people that will change their lives and transform Ghana.”
He disclosed that the NDC manifesto would continue to place premium on human development and welfare, as well as infrastructure development. He said the manifesto will also capture the socio-economic and political realities after 2012 and then showcase government’s programmes and activities that would bring out the realities beyond 2016.
He added that the NDC is going to focus on telling the truth instead of peddling of half-truths to win political power.
“Our presidential candidate is very credible who is acknowledged globally; it’s clear when the world needed two people to lead the process for attaining the new goals set for bettering the world dubbed Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), it was President John Dramani Mahama and the Prime Minister of Norway who were nominated to lead the process,” Mr Adams argued.
“I do not think the world will be wrong and only Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will be right,’ he stated.
